a boulder day!

this past saturday, aric and i met up with his brother jesse, girlfriend kristina, and our friends chris and colin to go on the banjo billy bus tour around boulder!

and the tour starts! it was really fun and really knowledgeable! we learned so much about the history of boulder as well as many ghost stories!! 

the bus was hilarious! check out the ceiling! and all of the seats were old love seats & couches.

after our tour, we stopped by one of our favorite spots in boulder: the med! for my favorite white sangria and many of their delicious tapas!

a tour of colorado's own stranahan's whiskey

before aric and i move, we are fitting in a lot of colorado-y things in our schedule!
last saturday, we went with chris & colin to the stranahan's whiskey tour! so fun and super interesting!

everything in their whiskey is from colorado! yay for being local + organic!

stranahan's is producing whiskey like they did in the 1800's so they take their time to make it special. they only produce 32 barrels a week. to give you a comparison - jack daniels produces 350 barrels a day and it only takes them 3 hours to make their whiskey. yuck!

the only piece of equipment that isn't done by a person. stranahan's also has bottling days where volunteers can come help bottle the whiskey and write straight on the label! we totally wanted to do this, but there's a waiting list about a year long. boo!

mom flew in last wednesday night and we had an absolute blast! i took off 2 days so we could hang out, go shopping, play with the dogs and eat!!

where's gramma?

a lovely weekend in telluride!

this past weekend, we went to my favorite part of colorado: the san juan mountains in the south western part of the state! growing up, we went to ouray & telluride every summer. however, i had never been there in the winter, nor had ever skied telluride! we talked with the lee's and telluride had been on their colorado list since they moved here 5 years ago! so we escaped the crazy blizzard in denver just in time and arrived at our amazing condo friday afternoon. with wonderful views all around us, we were in walking distance of the ski lifts - sheer heaven!

since we had our own kitchen, we decided we would cook 2 out of the 3 nights. first night was aric & i cooking chicken enchiladas, an avocado veggie salad & rice! delicious!

and saturday morning, we woke up to that...

after a long long day of skiing, we went to the most amazing thai restaurant i've ever been to: siam. it was sooo very good!

sunday night was super bowl, so brit & james made some really really really good bleu cheese & sherry burgers with pub fries with horseradish dipping sauce (from rachael ray). amazingness! we cheered the giants on to victory!
